Q 1 How do I set my computer to dial in to Maine Internet Service without an install disk or program?
A 1 Directions on how to configure your computer for Windows 95, 98, Me and XP as well as Mac os x, can be found on the configuration page. Windows 2000 users should use the directions for Windows XP. Users of alternative operating systems should have a basic understanding of the dialup-networking applet for their operating system. If not you can look up dialup networking in the help file.


Q 2 Is there a setup fee for new accounts?
A 2 No there is no setup fee, however there is a fixed payment period which begins on the first day of each month, so your first payment period may not be a full month.
       To off set this, On new dialup accounts and new hosting accounts *(Business 2 and Business 3 only), we issue a $3.00 credit to accounts opened between the 8th and the 21st of the month, and a $6.00 credit to accounts opened between the 22st and the last day of the month. This credit will be applied to the payment period in the following month.


Q 3 Can I pay ahead to save time later?
A 3 Yes you can pay up to one year ahead if you prefer not to deal with monthly payments. Advanced payments are held as credit with 0% interest until used up.


Q 4 I have made advanced payments, can I get my remaining balance returned?
A 4 Any credit with Maine Internet Service can only be used to pay for Maine Internet Service provided services, or refunded during closure of your account. We are sorry for the Inconvenience, but we are not a bank.


Q 5 How do I log in to my Maine Internet Service Web mail?
A 5 Click on the login Links button on the left side this page, or at the bottom for challenged browsers, next click on the mail server# you were assigned and enter your full E-mail address for the user name entry, and enter your password.
       you can use any of the three web mail clients provided, and changes made in one will show in all three. Horde is suggested, but you may prefer one of the others for your use.


Q 6 How do I log in to C panel?
A 6 Click on the login Links button on the left side this page, or at the bottom for challenged browsers, next click on the hosting server# you were assigned and enter your user name and password.

Q 8 How do I set up my E-mail client to use my account?

  1. Maine Internet Service mail accounts

    Account name should be set to your full E-mail address (youraccount@your assigned E-mail server).

    Incoming mail (pop3) should be set to (mail.your assigned E-mail server).

    Note, your assigned E-mail server should look similar to the following... (maineinternetservice-ms1.com).

    Outgoing mail (SMTP) should be set to (mail.your assigned E-mail server).

  2. Hosting accounts

    Account name should be set to your full E-mail address (youraccount@ yourdomain)
    Incoming mail (pop3) should be set to (mail.yourdomain)
    Outgoing mail (SMTP) should be set to (mail.yourdomain)

Q 9 How does the referral program work?
A 9 Refer a friend, if they mention that you referred them to us when they first sign up, and they still hold one of the approved account types** after two months, we will credit your account by $10.00 (one free month of dialup service. Can also be applied to any other type of Maine Internet Service account if you are not using our dialup services.)

Q 10 Do you have any special offers for non-profit organizations?
A 10 If you have a non-profit organization, which is in need of Web hosting, please contact us. If Maine Internet Service is in support of your organization's efforts, we may be able to provide your organization with free Web hosting. Please note that this is at our discretion and subject to availability.
