Privacy policy and End User License Agreement

       Maine Internet Service and its affiliates provides to business and consumer users several information technology related services, including such services as Internet access, various electronic mail (e-mail) packages and services, World Wide Web hosting arrangements, and other online and Internet-related services.

       For the purpose of this document the term “personal information” shall be understood to include the following: your physical address, your phone numbers, your PayPal account name, your e-mail address, and your user name and password.

       Maine Internet Service has respect for your personal information and has a strong privacy policy to protect it. Maine Internet Service requires certain personal information in order to deliver a reliable service to our customers. Maine Internet Service will never give out or sell any of your personal information to any individual, organization or business, except when ordered by a court of law for the purpose of law enforcement, and except for the use of your Maine Internet Service user name and password. Your Maine Internet Service user name and password is given only to companies supporting the portions of our service you have purchased, and is used for the sole purpose of insuring that only you have access to the service you have purchased. Supporting companies never have access to any personal information other than your user name and password. (Not even to your real name).

       New customers of Maine Internet Service must provide a valid and current E-mail address within one month of the first day of service.

       Users of any Maine Internet Service provided service shall agree to fully except responsibility for all their actions with regard to the use of any Maine Internet Service provided service, and any consequences resulting there of. This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. The downloading of virus-infected files and any resulting damages.

  2. Violations of copyrighted material and any resulting law suits.

       Users of any Maine Internet Service provided service shall agree not to hold Maine Internet Service liable for any transmissions through a Maine Internet Service provided service, nor any consequences resulting there of.

       It is contrary to Maine Internet Service policy for any user of any Maine Internet Service provided hosting, to post or relay through, a Maine Internet Service provided hosting account any of the following:

  1. Any copyright material for which you do not have explicit authority to publicly display or distribute.
           (Accounts in question will immediately be suspended until valid proof of authority is presented to Maine Internet Service, or material is removed, and Maine Internet Service is notified of its removal.)

  2. Any pornographic material.
           (Accounts in question will immediately be suspended until material is removed, and Maine Internet Service is notified of its removal.)

  3. Any web site promoting racism and, or, hate crimes.
           (Accounts in question will immediately be suspended until material is removed, and Maine Internet Service is notified of its removal.)

       It is contrary to Maine Internet Service policy for any user of any of these services to effect or participate in any of the following activities through a Maine Internet Service provided service:

  1. To post ten (10) or more messages similar in content to Usenet or other newsgroups, forums, e-mail mailing lists or other similar groups or lists;

  2. To post to any Usenet or other newsgroup, forum, e-mail mailing list or other similar group or list articles which are off-topic according to the charter or other owner-published FAQ or description of the group or list;

  3. To send unsolicited e-mailings to e-mail users;

  4. To falsify any user information provided to Maine Internet Service;

  5. To engage in any of the foregoing activities by using the service of another provider, but channeling such activities through an Maine Internet Service account, re-mailer, or otherwise through an Maine Internet Service or using an Maine Internet Service account as a mail-drop for responses or otherwise using the services of another provider for the purpose of facilitating the foregoing activities if such use of another party's service could reasonably be expected to adversely effect a Maine Internet Service provided service. Maine Internet Service considers the above practices to constitute abuse of our service and of the recipients of such unsolicited mailings and/or postings, who often bear the expense. Therefore, these practices are prohibited by Maine Internet Service terms and conditions of service. Engaging in one or more of these practices will result in termination of the offender's account and/or access to Maine Internet Service.

       Maine Internet Service considers the above practices to constitute abuse of our service and of the recipients of such unsolicited mailings and/or postings, who often bear the expense. Therefore, these practices are prohibited by Maine Internet Service terms and conditions of service. Engaging in one or more of these practices will result in termination of the offender's account and/or access to Maine Internet Service.

       Nothing contained in this policy shall be construed to limit Maine Internet Service actions or remedies in any way with respect to any of the foregoing activities, and Maine Internet Service reserves the right to take any and all additional actions it may deem appropriate with respect to such activities, including without limitation taking action to recover the costs and expenses from offenders of the above policies, of identifying said offenders and canceling their account with Maine Internet Service for violations of the terms outlined above. In addition, Maine Internet Service reserves at all times all rights and remedies available to it with respect to such activities at law or in equity.

       A copy of this document must be returned to Maine Internet Service with your full name added on the doted line, within one month of the first day of service.

       Submission of this document to Maine Internet Service with your full name present will indicate your acceptance of the above End User License Agreement.
